The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) is a collaborative industry forum that has been driving electrical, optical, and control interoperability in optical networking for 25 years. The non-profit company is based in Fremont, CA. With over 140 member companies, including network operators, system vendors, component vendors, and test equipment vendors, the OIF develops and publishes implementation agreements and technical white papers critical to accelerating market adoption of optical networking technologies. The OIF's current work includes projects related to 800G coherent line specifications, 400ZR, co-packaging, and common electrical I/O.

The Ethernet Alliance operates as an industry consortium of member organizations. The firm focuses in the expansion of Ethernet technology. Its members include system and component vendors, industry experts, and university and government professionals. The company was founded by John D’Ambrosia in 2006 and is headquartered in Beaverton, OR.
