Mr. Matthew Greenburgh has been appointed to run Merrill Lynch's financial merger and acquisitions team in Europe.
As a member of the Merrill Lynch group since May 2008, Mr. Greenburgh worked to leverage and extend the European franchise primarily, but not exclusively, among financial institutions clients.
Since joining Merrill Lynch, he has held a number of senior positions, including as head of European Financial Institutions and then as co-head of Global Financial Institutions.
He played a critical role in originating and executing a number of landmark transactions in the sector.
Previously, Mr. Greenburgh was vice chairman of Merrill Lynch Global Investment Banking and chairman of the Financial Institutions Group.
He joined Merrill Lynch in 1998 from Barings where he had been for the previous nine years.
Mr. Greenburgh read philosophy and economics at the University of Oxford.
