(NYSE: BK) in the US. Headquartered in Edinburgh, the firm was founded by Walter G. Scott in 1983 to manage long-term equity portfolios for institutional investors around the world. Prior to October 2006 and the acquisition by Mellon Financial Corporation, Walter Scott was independently owned.
