Mr. Somerfeld is an Executive Vice President Burnham Securities Inc. and Burnham Asset Management Corporation.
Mr. Sommerfeld began his career on Wall Street in 1965 as an account executive with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. After five years he became a member of the firm's Law & Compliance Division where he had a variety of responsibilities including Compliance Counsel.
In 1984, Mr. Sommerfeld joined Drexel Burnham Lambert, where he was the manager of the Retail Options Department.
Mr. Sommerfeld was a member of the New York Stock Exchange Advisory committee for the development of the book Patterns of Supervision, a member of the Chicago Board of Options Exchange Business Conduct Committee, and a founding member of the Committee on Options Proposals, which is comprised of representatives of brokerage firms and representatives of the United States options exchanges.
Mr. Sommerfeld is a graduate of New York University and Brooklyn Law School.
He is a member of the Bar of the State of New York.
He is active among a variety of community-related organizations.
