Spiral Gateway is a fabless semiconductor chip vendor with products that will deliver new levels of flexibility and performance to a key segment of the Image Signal Processing (ISP) market. The company was formed in 2004 as a spinout from the University of Edinburgh and holds exclusive rights to RICA (Reconfigurable Instruction Cell Architecture), a novel processing architecture and associated tool chain. This technology has the potential to achieve cost & performance points for existing signal processing functions, directly comparable with fixed function custom hardware, whilst offering the significant additional benefit of high degrees of flexibility through software programmability.
