Profile

Bart De Smet is business unit manager of PMV-kmo, responsible for the SME-financing activities of ParticipatieMaatschappij Vlaanderen (PMV).
In this position, he played a leading role in the creation and launch of the ARKimedes risk capital scheme.
He is also one of the architects of the SME-guarantee instrument of the Flemish Government.
He has also set up the Flemish Innovation Fund (VINNOF), a seed capital fund, and coordinated the launch of complementary financing products for companies.
Prior to joining PMV, Mr. De Smet lived in South-East Asia for 5 years, where he was respectively Vietnam Country Manager for IPEM, an investment company owned by the Belgian DEME-Group and GIMV, and a business development consultant in Singapore.
Mr. De Smet obtained a Master's Degree in business economics from the University of Antwerp and an MBA from the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School.
In 1998 he was awarded the title of "Laureate of the Prince Albert Fund" by the Belgian King Baudouin Foundation.
