Schneider Electric has announced the signature of a strategic agreement with ProLogium, a Taiwanese battery manufacturer, to develop intelligent manufacturing and energy management systems at ProLogium's future gigafactory in Dunkirk.

The idea is to improve production efficiency and reduce the site's carbon footprint by digitizing processes.

The Gigafactory will produce lithium-ceramic batteries, which are more efficient and environmentally friendly than lithium-ion, using France's decarbonized energy.

The agreement marks the start of construction of the €5.2 billion plant, which could create 3,000 jobs by 2030, Schneider points out.
