French engineering group Spie announced on Monday the appointment of Karen Luzignant, an in-house executive, as director of its industrial activities in the Eastern region.

In her new role, the 47-year-old graduate of Lyon's National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) will head up a group of 1,000 employees at some 20 sites.

In a press release, Spie points out that the historical presence of the pharmaceutical and automotive industries in the region makes it a particularly important hub for its subsidiary.

Karen Luzignant, who began her career with SPIE ICS, the group's digital services division in 2001, says she wants to put her technological expertise to work in industry, where she believes the challenges of digital transformation have become essential.
