Ryanair announced on Thursday that it recorded an 8% increase in passenger traffic in April, despite the cancellation of numerous flights due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the impact of the air traffic controllers' strike in France.

According to the Irish low-cost carrier, some 17.3 million people travelled on its routes last month, compared with 16 million a year earlier.

However, the carrier points out that its load factor, an indicator of the number of seats sold expressed as a percentage of capacity, fell to 92% from 94% in April 2023.

In its press release, the group states that it operated 98.400 flights in April, but also had to cancel around 700 flights due to the unrest in Gaza, and more than 340 flights due to the strike by French air traffic controllers on April 25.

At around 11:20 a.m. (Dublin time), Ryanair shares, up more than 40% over six months, were showing a gain of 0.4%.
