LUDWIGSHAFEN (dpa-AFX) - BASF, the world's largest chemical company, will present its detailed figures for the past fiscal year this Friday (07:00 a.m.). The Ludwigshafen-based DAX-listed company has already announced in advance that sales and profits in 2023 fell significantly short of its own expectations. Weak demand and increased energy costs are the main reasons for this, according to the management. Revenues are expected to reach 68.9 billion euros and net profit 225 million euros. The outlook for the current year from Group CEO Martin Brudermüller and CFO Dirk Elvermann is eagerly awaited.

This will be the last presentation of the chemical company's business figures for the long-standing Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors. After the BASF Annual General Meeting in April, the company's Asia head, Markus Kamieth, will become the new CEO. After his departure, the 62-year-old Brudermüller will take over as Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Supervisory Board./glb/DP/zb
