We are pleased to announce two additions to the 2024-25 Fellowship class: Alyce McFadden and Kenya Romero. The fellows begin June 3, and you can learn more about the class here.

Every year, The Times reserves one spot in its fellowship program for an internal hire. Alyce McFadden will fill that role. A senior news assistant on the Politics desk at The Times, Alyce will join the program as a reporter on the Metro desk. Before joining The Times, Alyce was a news assistant at Law360. She also was an intern at the Center for Responsive Politics and The Lincoln County News in Maine. Alyce was editor in chief of The Bowdoin Orient at Bowdoin College. She enjoys running, bookstores and her beloved hometown Los Angeles Dodgers.

Kenya Romero, most recently an associate audience engagement producer at Southern California Public Radio, will be our fellow on the Audience desk. Kenya previously was an audience engagement editor and a fellow at the Los Angeles Times. She also has held a number of other social media and digital production positions. She was a reporter at The University Times at California State University, Los Angeles. Kenya loves singing and playing the piano (as seen on her social media feeds). She also loves a good book.

In addition, four college students will join the newsroom for 10 weeks this summer as Dow Jones News Fund editing interns. Reese Anderson and Nick Pasion will join the Flexible Editing desk. Riya Chopra and Makenna Underwood will join the Print Hub.

Reese is slated to graduate this month from the University of Mississippi, where she serves as the copy chief and a culture reporter for The Daily Mississippian. Reese, who is from Jackson, Miss., enjoys weight lifting, watching movies and playing chess.

Nick is set to graduate from George Washington University, where he is managing editor of The GW Hatchet. Nick, who is from Seattle, also has worked as an editorial fellow at Washingtonian magazine. He enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, and playing video games and pickup basketball.

Riya is a junior at the University of California, Berkeley, where she is the head of the copy desk for The Daily Californian. Riya, whose hometown is Dublin, Calif., enjoys listening to new music, hiking around the San Francisco Bay Area, cooking and completing crossword puzzles.

Makenna is slated to graduate from Howard University, where she is the investigative editor at The Hilltop. She also has interned at Simply Magazines. Makenna, who is from Hot Springs, Ark., has a passion for social media and cultural trends.

We're also pleased to announce that Churchill Ndonwie will join the Investigations desk this summer as an intern in partnership with the Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting. Churchill, whose hometown is Silver Spring, Md., is a 2023 graduate of Columbia University and currently a Global Migrations Project fellow at Columbia Journalism Investigations. He enjoys cooking and sharing a dinner table with a community. Churchill also loves to read and is a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Please welcome aboard all of our new fellows and interns.
