Bouygues has published a net loss (group share) of -146 million euros for the first quarter of 2024, a loss widened by 12 million euros year-on-year, but an operating profit from ordinary activities (ROCA) of 26 million euros, an improvement of 17 million.

The conglomerate's sales reached 12.3 billion euros, up 3% on a like-for-like basis, driven mainly by Equans and Bouygues Construction.

However, as is the case every year, Bouygues Construction's first-quarter results are not representative of its first-half and full-year results, 'mainly due to the seasonal nature of Colas' activities, and to a lesser extent those of Equans'.

Bouygues claims an order book of 30.4 billion euros at the end of March in its construction activities and, 'in an uncertain economic and geopolitical environment', is targeting slightly higher total sales and ROCA for 2024.
