BONN (dpa-AFX) - The logistics group DHL is making progress on its electric course. "We are now using over 35,000 electric vehicles for collection and delivery," said Group CEO Tobias Meyer on Friday in Bonn at the Annual General Meeting of the logistics company, which operates as Deutsche Post in the national mail business. This increased the global share of the Group's e-vehicles to 38 percent at the turn of the year. According to the company, this figure had been around 28 percent a year earlier. "By 2030, it should be at least 60 percent," said Meyer.

In view of the parcel boom in the Internet age, logistics companies are sending significantly more vans and trucks onto the road than before, most of them with combustion engines. The entire industry is trying to improve its carbon footprint with electric vehicles. DHL is leading the way, with its competitors lagging far behind./wdw/DP/jha
