Offshore Wind: Inauguration of the Yeu-Noirmoutier Offshore Substation

The offshore wind farm on the Îles d'Yeu and Noirmoutier is one of ENGIE's biggest offshore wind projects. Once completed, it will provide electricity to 800,000 homes. A decisive step has recently been taken with the completion of the marine substation and its relocation to the launching dock.

May 2 was the day of its inauguration by Catherine MacGregor, in the presence of Bruno Lemaire, French Minister of Economy, Finance and the Recovery and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty and Roland Lescure, French Minister Delegate for Industry.

Catherine MacGregor stressed the essential dimension of social acceptability in the success of this type of project: "We have given ourselves the best chance to succeed: constant dialogue between the field teams and elected officials, industrialists, local companies, government services, fishermen [...]".

This offshore wind farm will be another step forward for the energy transition France, which has set itself the goal of reaching 33% renewable energy in its mix by 2030, and having installed 50 offshore wind farms by 2050.
