Los Angeles, January 18th 2012 - Michael Bloom, a 20-year television veteran, has joined the FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG) as Senior Vice President overseeing a newly established Original Programming division. The announcement was made today by FOX Sports Media Group Co-Presidents and COOs Randy Freer and Eric Shanks. Bloom, who has served as both a network and independent producer, is responsible for creating and developing new, original programming for all FSMG networks including SPEED, FOX Soccer Channel, FUEL TV, the FOX Sports Regional Networks, FOX Deportes, FOX College Sports, FOXSports.com, under its Lunch With Benefits afternoon programming block, FOX Sports Radio and also serves in an advisory role to the Big Ten Network (BTN).
"Michael's long, successful track record of creating, developing and producing shows for a number of top networks makes him an ideal choice to head our new original programming division," said Shanks. "We expect all FSMG networks to benefit from his creativity, enthusiasm and fresh perspective."

Bloom's initial focus is on program development for SPEED, FOX Soccer, FUELTV and several national broadcast initiatives. "Our goal is to broaden our programming going forward to introduce intriguing and entertaining characters whose story's better reflect the interests, lives, and aspirations of our core viewers. We'd like to embrace the speed and energy at which our viewers live their lives, the fun they have, their activities and all the interests they share."
Bloom joins FSMG after serving as an executive development consultant for AMC Network, where he helped establish the new non-fiction programming department. His joint efforts resulted in the first non-fiction series green lights in the network's history. Prior to joining AMC, Bloom produced numerous non-fiction and animated series, specials, talk shows, variety shows, documentaries and pilots for MTV, VH1, A&E, MTV2, VH1, Disney XD, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, The CW, CBS, AOL, FUEL TV and ESPN.
Bloom began his television career at MTV in 1990 creating on-air and off-air ancillary marketing opportunities for advertisers. He jump-started his production career when he co-created and produced the MTV Beach House programming platform from 1993 to 1996.
