■Mitsui Fudosan's Initiatives for Industry-Academia Collaboration

Mitsui Fudosan is engaged in industry-academia collaboration with the aim of discovering hints for innovation through the wisdom found at universities and applying them to urban development and business. In 2020, we launched the Industry-Academia Collaboration Department and began joint research and other industry-academia collaborations with the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Ochanomizu University, Kyushu University, and others. In April 2024, in conjunction with the full-scale launch of the Tohoku University Science Park Concept, we announced that we will work together with Tohoku University to build a space for co-creation aimed at solving social issues and creating new industries. While leveraging our experience in urban development and track record in community building to date, we aim to create new industries through the social implementation of cutting-edge research found in academia.

■Management and Administrative Operations of the Incubation Facilities of the University of Tokyo

In October 2018, Mitsui Fudosan was entrusted with operations related to the management and administration of facilities and startup support at incubation facilities which the University of Tokyo established in the south research building on Hongo Campus and concluded an agreement for the same. Subcontracted by Mitsui Fudosan, LINK-J provides some of the services related to tenant support (including facilitating exchanges among tenant companies and with investors and other supporters, as well as supporting events for tenant companies, etc., by leveraging the knowledge we have accumulated in building a platform for human interaction and information exchange).

■Sustainability in the Mitsui Fudosan Groupy

Based on the meaning of its "& mark," "to generate new value with society through cooperation, coexistence and co-creation, we forge ahead, innovating," the Mitsui Fudosan Group views the "creation of social value" and the "creation of economic value" as two wheels of a cart. Accordingly, we believe that the creation of social value leads to the creation of economic value, and that this economic value then creates even greater social value.
Moreover, we identified six Group Materiality priority issues when formulating our new management philosophy in April 2024. These Group Materiality priority issues are (1) Contribute to industrial competitiveness, (2) Coexist with the environment, (3) Health and Vitality, (4) Safety and security, (5) Diversity and inclusion, and (6) Compliance and governance. The Mitsui Fudosan Group will work to address each of the materialities through its core business activities and contribute to the promotion of sustainability.
