E.ON announces that it has signed an agreement with Lendlease to develop a low-carbon energy network in Silvertown, east London, covering 760,000 m².

The project will use E.ON's heat pump-based ectogrid system to heat and cool over 6,000 new properties.

Silvertown will become the largest heating and cooling network in the UK, reducing CO2 emissions by 4,000 tonnes a year compared with traditional gas boilers.

The project also includes the construction of housing, workspace, retail and leisure facilities, marking a major transformation of the Royal Docks with 'significant' economic and environmental benefits for the local community.
