EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) _ C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. (CHRW) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $147.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said it had profit of $1.08.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 94 cents per share.

The trucking company posted revenue of $4.55 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.13 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $506.4 million, or $3.72 per share. Revenue was reported as $16.21 billion.

C.H. Robinson shares have risen nearly 4% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 2.5%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $97.50, a rise of 24% in the last 12 months.
