FOSHAN, China (AP) _ Bright Scholar Education Holdings Ltd. (BEDU) on Wednesday reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $28.4 million.

The Foshan, China-based company said it had profit of 24 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 25 cents per share.

The provider of international education to Chinese students posted revenue of $159.9 million in the period.

Bright Scholar expects full-year revenue in the range of $545.9 million to $561.1 million.

Bright Scholar shares have increased 8% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $6.22, a decline of 33% in the last 12 months.
