FLORHAM PARK, NJ, January 21, 2013--When BASF's award-winning North American headquarters building opened in May, 2012, one of its features was an interactive innovation center that demonstrates the link between chemistry and sustainability. In less than a year, BASF's innovation center has attracted 15,000 visitors, including school children, college students, customers, and elected officials.

Now, tours of the BASF innovation center are available from the comfort of your computer by visitinghttp://innovation-center.basf.us.

"BASF's innovation center highlights contributions and success stories relevant to today's global mega-trends in the fields of transportation, construction, consumer goods, health and nutrition, electronics, agriculture and energy and resources," said Robin Rotenberg, Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for BASF in North America. "For example, one of our presentations shows how recycled soda bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET)can be used to create a chair."

The virtual tour is designed to simulate the experience of a visit to the actual innovation center. Visitors can "move around" the facility to select the stories that they want to see. The BASF innovation center, for example, has a high-tech table on which visitors can place special cubes with radio frequency identification (RFID) chips that contain individual presentations. The virtual tour utilizes the cube concept to access information, and the presentations are non-technical.

BASF will also continue tours of its innovation center, which also helps serve as a showcase for the company's headquarters, which recently became the fifth construction project in the United States and the first in New Jersey to achieve LEED®(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)double Platinum certification.
