GERMANY: - EXPECTED LITTLE CHANGE - After stabilizing in the previous week, little is likely to happen for the Dax on Monday. Broker IG put the German leading index at 18,162 points, barely changed, just two and a half hours before the start of Xetra trading. Last week, the Dax had risen by 0.9 percent, thus breaking away from the 100-day moving average. There is now a lack of fresh impetus, as little happened on Wall Street on Friday. In their latest report, the equity market strategists at JPMorgan bank are preparing investors for an approaching opportunity to enter eurozone equities. However, Mislav Matejka's experts are still reluctant to give the region an "overweight" rating compared to the USA. Although the risks in France are "not a game changer", they could still cause a setback in the wake of the new elections. Matejka once again emphasize their scepticism for the banking sector.

USA: - LITTLE CHANGE - After the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 set new records the day before, the air was out on the last trading day of the week. The major stock indices, including the Dow Jones Industrial, barely budged on Friday. As on the previous day, investors took profits on chip stocks, which had recently soared from one record high to the next. After trading with little momentum, the Dow Jones Industrial closed up a moderate 0.04% at 39,150.33 points. Over the week as a whole, the Dow performed well with a gain of 1.5 percent. The Nasdaq 100 ended Friday trading down 0.26% at 19,700.43 points. The index gained slightly over the week. The S&P 500 went into the weekend down 0.16 percent at 5464.62 points.

ASIA: - GAINS IN TOKYO, CHINA UNIFORM - The most important stock markets in Asia did not find a common direction on Monday. There was no major impetus from Wall Street. In Tokyo, Japan's leading index, the Nikkei 225, rose by 0.7 percent shortly before the end of trading. The CSI 300, which includes the most important stocks on the Chinese mainland stock exchanges, managed to jump into the profit zone in late trading and was quoted just above the closing price of the previous trading day. In the Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong, however, the technology-heavy Hang Seng Index fell by around 0.8 percent. Tech stocks had already weakened on Wall Street on Friday as some investors continued to cash in after a strong run.
