  • Syngenta announces winner of the Most Efficient Harvest photo contest
  • $500 Visa® gift card awarded to Michael Taylor of Helena, Ark.

GREENSBORO, N.C., USA - Syngenta is pleased to announce Michael Taylor, of Helena, Ark., as the winner of the Most Efficient Harvest photo contest sponsored by Quilt Xcel® fungicide and Force® insecticide and the grand prize recipient of a $500 Visa® gift card.

Taylor grows corn, soybeans, wheat and milo at Long Leaf Plantation and applies Quilt Xcel on his corn at tassel. He submitted a photo of his corn standing strong at harvest time along with the description, "Quilt Xcel helped to prevent stress on our corn during the 47-day dry spell and unseasonable cool temperatures. We still managed to yield 286 bushels to the acre."

From Aug. 28 through Nov. 29, corn growers submitted photos of their corn showing harvestability benefits after an application of either Quilt Xcel or Force. Entrants also described the different benefits seen in their fields, such as reduced lodging, increased yield and savings on fuel, labor and equipment costs.

"The photo Michael Taylor submitted showed not only improved stand but also fuller ears after an application of Quilt Xcel. These benefits led to a more efficient harvest and an improved yield, even in a year with dry, stressful growing conditions," said Andrew Fisher, commercial product lead, fungicides, Syngenta.

Quilt Xcel provides disease protection and other plant stress management benefits, including stronger, deeper root systems, improved nutrient uptake, stronger stalks and less lodging. Force protects the corn roots by delivering superior corn rootworm and early-season insect control.
