Gilbert Retires as GENEX VP of Production

SHAWANO, Wisconsin -Glen Gilbert, Vice President of Production for dairy and beef cattle genetics cooperative GENEX, retired on Dec. 31, 2017.

Gilbert dedicated 40 years to GENEX and its predecessors. He began employment with the cooperative in 1977 as an administrative assistant in the production division. After only two years, Gilbert's precision, hard work and dedication led him to a leadership position; he carried out the duties of vice president of production for 38 years.

Under Gilbert's leadership, the cooperative achieved many production advancements. He consistently pushed for improved, high-quality bovine genetics. This included updating animal and semen handling procedures, investing in superior laboratory and collection equipment, and improving product quality through rigorous laboratory testing.

'I am extremely thankful to have worked under Glen,' states Steve Trantham, GENEX Associate Vice President of Regional Production Services. 'It was through his leadership that GENEX Beef genetics doubled in production and increased its quality. Throughout his career, he was always focused on making improvements to provide producers with the best quality product possible - whether dairy or beef genetics.'

As Gilbert's tenure ends, Kristi Fiedler has filled the role of GENEX Vice President of Production.
