Stephan has been HFAME's Chief Executive since March 2001 and had professional experience, mostly in investment banking and corporate finance.
Most recently he had been a senior member of Siemens' mergers & acquisitions (M&A) team and was responsible for the implementation of a large part of the group's wide ranging restructuring in 1999 and 2000 in Germany and to some extent the United States.
Prior to that he had been an Executive Director at UBS Warburg, specialising in M&A and equity capital markets in continental Europe.
Until its merger with Juniper Networks Inc in July 2002, Stephan was also a member of the board of directors of Unisphere Networks Inc., a Siemens group company in the United States.
Throughout his career, both professional and academic, Stephan has put a particular emphasis on issues surrounding shareholder value generation and turn-around situations.
He holds a business degree and PhD, both from St. Gallen University where he was a scholar of the German National Scholarship Foundation.
In his prior military career, Stephan had been with the German armoured infantry, leaving the service as Lieutenant and platoon leader.
Stephan brings a wealth of international experience to HFAME's European effort, having lived and/or worked for extended periods of time in Germany (both West and East), Switzerland, the UK and the United States.
As Chief Executive of HFAME, Stephan oversees all aspects of the business, including investment, corporate governance and shareholder engagement, public relations and overall management issues.
