As an entrepreneur, Dr. Bruno built and sold a half a dozen multimillion-dollar high-tech companies in the US and Japan in key markets such as those for: multimedia applications, media/imaging chips (MPEG, JPEG), video conferencing chipsets, authoring/media production systems, computer games, internet website production-tools and security systems.
Dr. Bruno developed and launched several dozen core consumer products that are used by consumers today and that, separately, generate revenues in excess of a billion dollars annually.
These products include the Compact Disc - in several of its formats, MP3 music, MPEG video (e.g.
DVD), the Minitel, video conferencing and micro conferencing, information security systems and computer games and peripherals.
These products were developed and launched during his tenure as CTO or CEO with Philips-Sony, PRISM Interactive, GCA, GCT, Alliance Interactive, Digital Frontiers, Beyond If Corporation and BI Informatics.
Dr. Bruno is also well known for his ground-breaking products, during the 1970's, in the areas of solar energy, energy conservation and energy control systems at Philips N.V.
and with Stiebel Eltron.
Dr. Bruno is the author of several books on solar energy systems and optical media as well as numerous publications.
He speaks five languages and obtained his Ph.D.
in Solid State Physics from McMaster University in 1971, an honors B.Sc.
degree in Physics from McGill University in 1967, and an Executive Program MBA from Michigan University Ann Arbor in 1988.
