Joshua Sommer brings to Vendavo extensive experience building successful software companies in emerging technology markets.
He founded University Microcomputers, which developed one of the first word processors for the IBM PC in 1982, and sold the company to Emerging Technology, Inc., a spin-off of AT&T, in 1986.
In 1988, after working for the Bankers Trust Company as a derivatives expert, he co-founded International Risk Control, Inc., which developed foreign exchange and oil risk management software for the 200 largest banks and corporations around the world.
Mr. Sommer served as International Risk Control's president and chief executive officer for six years before selling the company to a publicly traded software firm in 1996.
Mr. Sommer earned his B.A.
from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A.
from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
