Surety & Financial Enterprises is an insurance company located in Baltimore, Maryland. The firm is a subsidiary of Zurich North America and their ultimate parent is Zurich Financial Services Group. Originally founded in 1890 as Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland, the firm's name was changed to Surety & financial Enterprises in May 2001.

On March 10, 1864, the Maryland Legislature granted a charter incorporating the Safe Deposit Company as a secure repository for valuables, responding to concerns for the safety of Maryland's people and property in time of war.
