On a per-share basis, the San Antonio-based company said it had profit of 84 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.25 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.21 per share.

The investment management firm posted revenue of $215.9 million in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $219.1 million.
