Frankfurt Airport welcomed about 5.1 million passengers in April - Increase of 5.6 percent year-on-year - Passenger growth of 7.0 percent achieved across all Fraport Group airports
Some 5.1 million passengers traveled via Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in April 2024 - an increase of nearly 5.6 percent year-on-year. Compared with pre-crisis levels, FRA's passenger numbers in the reporting month were still around 15.6 percent below the figure seen in April 2019.1
rnCargo volumes in Frankfurt (comprising airfreight and airmail) recorded strong growth, rising by 10.7 percent to 171,501 metric tons in April 2024. Aircraft movements also climbed by 5.8 percent year-on-year to 37,556 takeoffs and landings. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) expanded by 5.3 percent year-on-year to around 2.3 million metric tons.
rnThe majority of the airports in Fraport's international portfolio also recorded rising passenger numbers in April 2024. Slovenia's Ljubljana Airport (LJU) experienced yet another significant gain, with traffic growing by 17.1 percent year-on-year to 111,414 passengers. In contrast, the two Brazilian airports of Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) saw combined traffic slip by 3.6 percent to 936,854 passengers. Meanwhile, Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru welcomed some 1.9 million travelers in April, a boost of 19.4 percent compared to the same month last year. Fraport's 14 Greek regional airports served a total of 1.6 million passengers, up 0.9 percent year-on-year. Combined traffic at the two Bulgarian coastal airports of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) decreased by 34.7 percent to 98,666 passengers in the month under review. In contrast, passenger numbers at Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera continued to surge by 13.0 percent to around 2.4 million travelers.
rnTotal traffic at the airports actively managed by the Fraport Group grew by 7.0 percent year-on-year to approximately 12.2 million passengers in April 2024.
