Trump Media & Technology Group said it had appointed a new financial auditor days after its previous accounting firm was banned by regulators.

The Truth Social parent said Monday it had appointed Semple, Marchal & Cooper as its independent registered public accounting firm, effective May 4.

TMTG said the appointment was made after a detailed evaluation process. The company said it plans to seek an extension to its deadline for its quarterly report filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The SEC on Friday banned BF Borgers, the firm that had previously been registered as the auditor for TMTG. The SEC alleged that BF Borgers had failed to comply with regulatory standards and had reused workpapers for multiple audits.

The firm agreed to pay a $12 million fine to resolve the charges, without admitting or denying the claims. BF Borgers was hired by TMTG to be its auditor for the 2024 fiscal year, according to regulatory filings.
