into a city isolated by heavy flooding

The Amazonas 105 plane dropped 2 and a half tons of aid containing water and food for the inhabitants of Sao Jeronimo.

The town was flooded by the overflowing Jacui River and, according to local media, more than 2,000 people lost their homes.

The death toll from severe flooding in southern Brazil has risen to 113 as rescue operations continued and authorities began to see the cost of recovering from the devastation in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

At least 146 people are still missing and more than 337,000 have been displaced.
