STMicroelectronics: agreement extended with Germany's SiCrystal
The new multi-year agreement covers the supply of higher volumes of 150 mm SiC substrates, which SiCrystal manufactures in Nuremberg, in a contract valued at at least $230 million.
In a press release, STMicroelectronics explains that this partnership will enable it to benefit from additional volumes to support the increase in its production capacities in the automotive and industrial sectors.
Energy-efficient SiC power semiconductors enable the electrification of the automotive and industrial sectors through more efficient and sustainable processes.
They can also power resource-hungry infrastructures such as data centers dedicated to artificial intelligence applications.
