Shares of power producers were more or less flat as traders digested a strong first-quarter earnings season for the sector.

Rising demand for electricity due to artificial-intelligence and data-storage demand could already be showing up in power-producers earnings reports, according to one strategist.

J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management noted that the sector had one of the strongest earnings growth rates of any of the 11 S&P 500 industry groups in the first quarter.
