May 6 (Reuters) - Law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison said on Monday it has hired dealmaker Jim Langston as a partner in its mergers and acquisition (M&A) practice.
Langston, who has experience in cross-border and domestic transactions, will be based in New York and will join the law firm's corporate department.
Global M&A has been on a rebound this year after a downbeat 2023, amid growing hopes of a soft landing for the economy. Its volume jumped 30% from a year earlier to about $755.1 billion in the first quarter of 2024, according to data from Dealogic.
Langston's practice is focused on public and private M&A transactions, activist defense M&A and corporate governance.
He often represents companies and their boards on takeover defense and shareholder activism situations.
Paul, Weiss' M&A practice advises private equity firms, publicly traded and privately held companies as well as financial advisors and other financial institutions.
