Shares of energy companies rose as oil futures rebounded and tensions simmered in the Middle East during on-again, off-again peace talks.
The Israeli military told Palestinians sheltering in some areas of eastern Rafah to move to a designated area further north, warning them of an anticipated offensive to rout Hamas in the southern Gazan city.
Oil futures pared gains late in the session after reports that Hamas had agreed to pause their war in Gaza.
